Originally
from St. Louis, Missouri, Ryan holds a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in theatre performance. He founded E.T.V. in order to offer professional and safe combat choreography to theatre companies, film makers, and schools who are in need of energetic, dynamic scenes of violence for their projects.
Ryan has been a member of the Society of American Fight Directors
since 2002. He has taught classes and workshops in unarmed, single
handed broad-sword, two handed broad-sword, knife, and filmed combat.
His experiences with fighting on stage and for film include all of the
above, as well as Asian style boxing, improvised weaponry, rapier and
dagger, rapier and cloak, saber and small sword. He has also learned to
fight with an eye patch, a useful skill with the current Pirate craze
on stage and film.
Ryan has acted as Choreographer for Regent University, the University
of Central Missouri, Northern State University of South Dakota, Summer Arts Camp, Theatrix Productions, Inc., The 700 Club, as
well as various independent film companies. He is also an acting professional who has appeared in film, television, and on stage in numerous roles and in a wide variety of shows. From classical Shakespeare to contemporary street performance, Ryan's love of acting is only surpassed by his passion for the the art of stage violence.
Ryan has studied with accomplished combat professionals such as Dale
Girard, Michael Kirkland, Richard Ryan, Michael Johnson, and David
Boushey.
